How to Play Double Scorpion Solitaire
This game is a version of Scorpion Solitaire played with two decks, or 104 cards.
Objective
Your goal is to create sequences of cards from Ace to King by suit in the tableau, which will then be moved to the foundation. When you complete this for all 4 suits, you win.
The Setup and Play Area
There are three main areas in the game:
Tableau: This is the area where there are 10 columns of cards. The first 5 columns have 11 cards, with the bottom 7 cards turned face-up. The next 4 columns have 10 cards each, all face-up, and the last column has 9 cards, also face-up.
Stock pile: There is no stock pile. All cards are dealt to the tableau.
Foundation piles: These are the 8 piles at the top of the game. When cards are built by suit in descending order from King to Ace, they are then automatically placed in the foundation.
Available moves
- Similar to Yukon, a card and all the cards beneath it can be moved on top of the bottom card of a tableau column if it is one rank lower and of the same suit. For example, if you have a 4 of Hearts and a 9 of Spades underneath it, both cards can be moved together on top of a 5 of Hearts that sits at the bottom of the tableau.
- Similar to Spider, move cards to build sequences from King to Ace by suit in the tableau. When that’s complete, those cards will move from the tableau and into the foundation.
- Face-down cards are turned face-up when there are no cards below them.
- If a tableau column is empty, a King can be placed there.
- You win when all cards are moved to the foundation.
Strategy
- Prioritize moving cards to reveal the face-down cards, making them playable.
- Avoid having lower-ranking cards above higher-ranking cards in the same column. This will make sequencing these cards challenging.
- The first visible sequence may not always be the best one. Plan out your moves to remove as many cards as possible from the tableau.
- Try to empty the tableau columns quickly. Kings can be moved into empty columns, freeing up and allowing you to build more cards.
- If you get stuck, use the undo button. You may not always make the right moves, and may need to reverse some to win the game.
