How do you play Pyramid Solitaire?

Classic Pyramid uses one 52-card deck. Deal 28 cards face up in seven overlapping rows, then use the remaining cards as the stock. Your goal is to remove every card in the pyramid.

Pair two available cards whose values add up to 13: an ace with a queen, a 2 with a jack, a 3 with a 10, a 4 with a 9, a 5 with an 8, or a 6 with a 7. Aces count as 1, jacks as 11, and queens as 12. Kings count as 13 and can be removed on their own.

A pyramid card is available when no other card covers it. Draw from the stock to find more pairing options. Stock passes and winning conditions vary between versions, so check the rules in your app. Read our complete Pyramid Solitaire rules for a walkthrough.

Frequently asked questions

Which Pyramid Solitaire app is best for beginners?

Look for clear cards, rules you can revisit, hints, and undo. Fantasy Games Ltd advertises automatic hints and unlimited undo, while MobilityWare offers those tools in its Android edition. Start with classic make-13 rules so you can learn which pairs are available.

Is every Pyramid Solitaire deal winnable?

No. A random deal can block cards you need to pair, even when you make good choices. Giantix advertises guaranteed solvable deals. Solvable does not mean every move will lead to a win, so undo can help you explore a different path.

How can I improve at Pyramid Solitaire?

Look for pairs that uncover more cards and avoid leaving one side of the pyramid much taller than the other. Before removing a pair, check whether another card of the same value would free a more useful card. Remove available kings, since they do not need a partner.

Is Pyramid Solitaire Saga the same as classic Pyramid?

No. Classic Pyramid removes available pairs totaling 13, with kings removed alone. King's Pyramid Solitaire Saga matches cards one rank higher or lower than the current card and adds adventure levels and boosters.

Can I play Pyramid Solitaire offline?

Several linked Android apps advertise offline play, including MobilityWare, Fantasy Games Ltd, BlueSea, Giantix, and Farm Trip. Solitaired's iOS listing also supports offline games. Sign-in, syncing, and some challenges or events may still need a connection.

Are free Pyramid Solitaire apps ad-free?

Not necessarily. Many free downloads include advertising, optional purchases, or subscriptions. Check the listing for the edition you plan to install; the costs and available features can differ between Android and iOS.

Can I play without downloading an app?

Yes. Play Pyramid Solitaire on Solitaired directly in your browser.
