How to Play Word Flower
The goal of the game is to find words of at least 4 letters using the given letters. Every word must include the center letter.
You can enter letters by clicking on them or by typing on your keyboard. When you’re finished, press Enter to submit your word. Letters may be used more than once within a single word.
Play daily and keep track of your win streak!
Scoring
Longer words earn more points:
- 4-letter words: 1 point
- 5-letter words: 2 points
- Each additional letter increases the score accordingly
Strategies
Use these proven tactics to find more words, score faster, and avoid getting stuck.
1) Lock in the Center Letter First
Every valid word must include the center letter, so anchor on it. Try forming words with the center letter at the:
- Start (e.g., re-, un-)
- Middle
- End (e.g., -er, -ed, -ly)
If a word doesn’t feel natural with the center letter, skip it and move on.
2) Hunt for Common Prefixes & Suffixes
Scan the letters and look for patterns that generate lots of words:
- Prefixes: re-, un-, in-, pre-, anti-
- Suffixes: -er, -ed, -ing, -ly, -ness, -able
3) Rotate the Letters Constantly
Shuffle the hexagon (physically or mentally). Seeing the letters in a new order often triggers words you missed before.
4) Go Long Early
Longer words are worth more points. Try:
- Compound words
- Adding suffixes to shorter words (e.g., play → player → playing)
- Extending words as far as they reasonably go
5) Actively Search for the Pangram
A pangram (a word using all 7 letters) scores the most points. Try this:
- Identify the letter that feels hardest to include
- Start with that letter and build around it
- Consider uncommon letter combos and repeated letters
6) Mine Word Families
Once you find one word, look for variations:
- Noun → verb → adjective
- Singular → plural (when allowed)
- Base word → extended forms
Example: bake → baker → baking → rebaking
7) Don’t Ignore “Boring” Words
Short, simple words still count. If you’re stuck:
- Return to 4-letter words
- Think everyday language, not just fancy vocabulary
- Try repeated letters (many people forget these)
8) Take a Break
If you’re stuck, step away for 10–30 minutes and come back. Fresh eyes often spot words instantly.
9) Use Hints Strategically
If you use hints, treat them as pattern-revealers:
- Save hints for when you’re truly stuck
- Use a hint to uncover a pattern that leads to multiple words
- Let one hint unlock a whole cluster
