Introducing Sevens: A Fast, Strategic Card Game You Can Play Online

We’re excited to introduce Sevens, one of the newest card games on Solitaired.

Also known as Parliament or Fan Tan, Sevens is a simple but strategic shedding game where the goal is to be the first player to get rid of all your cards. The game starts with the 7 of Diamonds, and from there, players build each suit outward from the 7 down to the Ace and up to the King.

How Sevens Works

In Sevens, every suit has to begin with its 7. Once a 7 is played, cards in that suit can be placed in order on either side. For example, after the 7 of Hearts is played, the 6 of Hearts and 8 of Hearts can be played next. Then the suit continues building down toward the Ace and up toward the King.

You must play a card if you have a legal move. If you can’t play, you pass. This makes Sevens easy to learn, but surprisingly strategic. You’ll need to decide when to open up a suit, when to hold back a card, and how to make life harder for your opponents.

Why Sevens Is Fun

Sevens is quick, approachable, and full of small decisions. Because every card you play can unlock new moves for other players, timing matters. Sometimes the best move is obvious. Other times, holding a key card can block your opponents and give you an advantage.

It’s a great game if you enjoy classic card games that are easy to pick up but still reward strategy.

Scoring in Sevens

When one player gets rid of all their cards, the round ends. Any cards left in the other players’ hands count as penalty points. Once any player reaches 100 penalty points, the player with the lowest score wins the match.
